Title
The French-English Division of Labor [sic] in the Province of Quebec
Abstract
A study of the linguistic/ethnic division of labour in Montreal in the 1930s in the following manufacturing industries: iron and steel, boots and shoes, wood-using industries, furniture and upholstering, chemicals and allied products, and printing and graphic arts. The author argues that since the introduction of the New England commercial economy into Quebec after 1760, the social distance existing between exploiter (Anglophones) and exploited (Francophones) has been peculiarly characteristic of the economic development of the Province of Quebec.
