Abstract
A biographical sketch of the London-born John William Hughes (b.1845) who immigrated to Montreal with his parents in 1849 and rose from being a plumber's apprentice to a master plumber and heating specialist, a founder and director of the Master Plumbers Association of Montreal, and a lecturer to architecture students at McGill University.
