An examination of the historical evolution of the cosmopolitanism/nationalism debate among Canadian poets, as played out in literary periodicals. The McGill Group (sometimes referred to as the Montreal Group) touched off the debate in 1926-27 in the McGill Fortnightly Review and the Canadian Mercury magazines.
