Abstract
Andrew Fernando Holmes (1797-1860) was a professor of the Principles and Practices of Medicine at McGill University, and was one of the founding members of the faculty of that university's Medical Department in 1829. Holmes became the head of the faculty in 1843, and his title was changed to Dean of the Medical Department in 1854. He held that position until his death.
