Title
The Montreal Maroons: The Forgotten Stanley Cup Champions
Abstract
The Maroons were the very first tenants of the Montreal Forum and rivaled the Canadiens for most of the 1920s and 1930s. The team drew most of its fans from Anglophone neighbourhoods of Montreal and English-speaking communities throughout Quebec. During their short but colourful existence, the Montreal Maroons won the Stanley Cup twice (1926 and 1935), but the team is best remembered for its rivalry with the Montreal Canadiens. According to the author, the matches between the two Montreal teams were often wild affairs, with fights breaking out both on the ice and in the stands.
