Abstract
James Patterson Cockburn (1779?-1847) was a British officer in the Royal Artillery who twice served in Quebec -- from 1822 to 1823 and from 1826 to 1832. In 1831 he published the travel book Quebec and Its Environs. Two years later he produced sets of aquatint of Quebec City. His precise depictions of Quebec City have become a priceless record of its early architecture.
