Abstract
Lady Durham's husband, John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham, was appointed Governor General and High Commissioner of British North America in 1838 following the Rebellions of 1837 in Lower Canada and in Upper Canada. Lady Durham, who accompanied her husband to Canada, kept a journal which was started in January 1838 and closed in December of the same year.
