Abstract
A content analysis of V.E. Morrill’s and E.G. Pierce’s 1916 biographical dictionary Men of Today in the Eastern Townships 1917. The author looks at the social and professional characteristics of Sherbrooke’s leading citizens at the end of the First World War. He concludes that they were predominately English-speaking natives of Sherbrooke or the Eastern Townships. The most influential were involved in the lumber and pulp industry, which was soon to go into decline.
