Title
The Experiences of Chinese Immigrant Students in Quebec School
Abstract
A study of the particular difficulties that adolescent immigrants have in adapting to school in a new country where a second language must also be learned. The author studied the experiences of thirteen individuals who emigrated from Hong Kong as adolescents. It was found that learning French was especially difficult, due in part to their prior beginning knowledge of English and to an attitudinal disposition that favoured English.
