Abstract
Anglican Archdeacon (and later Bishop of Montreal and third Bishop of Quebec) George Jehoshaphat Mountain (1789-1863) toured the Eastern Townships from January to March 1829. A journal he kept describes the people and conditions, as well as the state of the Anglican parishes and missions in the Townships, during his visitation.
