A study of three Montreal-based little presses and their impact on Canadian poetry during the mid-twentieth century. First Statement Press (1945-1951) was founded by John Sutherland, Louis Dudek and Irving Layton; Contact Press (1952-1967) was founded by Raymond Souster, Louis Dudek, Irving Layton and Peter Miller; and Delta Canada (1957-1966) was founded by Michael Gnarowski, Louis Dudek and Glen Siebrasse.
