Abstract |
The editor of this anthology, McGill University English professor Brian Trehearne, writes in his Afterword that the Canadian poets of the 1920s and 1930s, lead by such English Quebecers as Frank Scott and A.M. Klein, had a mandate "to bring the country's poetry out of late Romantic stasis after the Great War into a fertile and combative response to the cultural, political, technical, philosophical, religious and economic conditions of the modern era."
