The Hybrid Organ at St. Paul's Anglican in Abbotsford, Quebec
|
| Abstract |
St. Paul d'Abbotsford Anglican Church, erected in 1822, contains a small reed organ, dating probably to the 1850s and constructed by organ builder Samuel R. Warren (1809-1882). The American-born and trained Warren settled in Montreal in 1836 and is credited with instituting professional organ building in Canada. The organ was probably acquired second-hand by the church in 1873. The author describes in great detail the construction and internal intricacies of the organ.
