Abstract
A history of the integration of the famine Irish into Montreal society between 1847 and 1857. The author includes a description of the economic conditions affecting the Irish in Lower Canada during this period, as well as a description of Irish-French relations and an account of the anti-Irish Catholic sentiment in the Protestant newspaper, The Montreal Witness.
