Some Observations on the Cultural Situation of the Anglophone Writer in Québec: An Introduction
|
Abstract |
The author undertakes a brief survey on critical debates (circa the early 1990s) in the development of recent Canadian literature(s). She attempts to clarify the confusion in the often undefined terminology used. She examines how terms like "immigrant," "ethnic," "minority," "transcultural" and "cross-cultural" literature(s) have been used in different ways to describe similar and/or different phenomena. In this light, the author analyzes the idiosyncratic character of English Quebec fiction-writing from Quebec.
