Abstract
The Irish-born Edward Bowen (1780-1866), lawyer, judge and politician, immigrated to Lower Canada in 1797, where he studied law and was authorized to practise law in 1803. In 1812 he became a judge of the Court of King’s Bench at Quebec City, and was promoted Chief Justice of the Superior Court in 1849.
