Title
The Influence of French on English in an Anglophone Community from Hull, Quebec: A Study of the Agentless Passive
Abstract
A study of the influence of French on the English language among native speakers of English who have spent their lives in a Francophone environment. Specifically, the author looks at the use of the passive tense among the English speakers in Hull. She concludes that the better the English speaker mastered French, the less he/she used the passive tense, thus following the general pattern of French and suggesting that there is an influence of French on English at the syntactic level.
