Entre empire et nation : Gravures de la ville de Québec et des environs, 1760-1833
Abstract
A study of the evolving representation of Quebec City as portrayed by Anglophone engravers. The author argues that these engravings reflect the changing feelings of Anglophones towards French Quebec society and British imperial politics. The author looks at the works of Hervey Smyth (1734-1811), Richard Short (d. 1766), James Peachey (d. 1797), George Bulteel Fisher (1764-1834) and James Pattison Cockburn (1778?-1847).
