Abstract
A note on James Thom and his two children who taught in a school (Thom's Commercial Academy) established by the elder Thom in Quebec City in the early nineteenth century. James Thom (fl. 1815-1845) was married to Isabella Simpson. Their children were William Thom and Catherine Thom. James Thom was a property owner and school teacher. Isabella Thom, nee Simpson, (d. 1871) was the daughter of John Simpson and Isabella Brymer (also Bremmer). She lived in Quebec City until 1859 when she moved to St. Joachim, Quebec, and lived there until her death. William Thom (fl. 1845-1890) was married to Anna Catherine Smyth. He was a property owner and school teacher in Quebec City. Catherine Thom (fl. 1847-1855) married Dr. John McKee, dentist and surgeon, and lived in Quebec.
