Title
The Rate of Natural Increase of the Jewish Population of Montreal
Abstract
A comparison of the rates of natural increase (births over deaths) of the French-Canadian, Anglo-Celtic and Jewish populations in the city of Montreal between 1911 and 1946. The author found that the crude birth and death rates of the Jewish population of Montreal was consistently lower than among the total population of all origins during the thirty-six years from 1911 to 1946 inclusive, and the decrease in the Jewish rate of natural increase was largely due to the decrease in the Jewish birth rate during the period.
