Abstract
Father Patrick Dowd (1813-1891), the pastor of Montreal's St. Patrick's Church, opposed Bishop Ignace Bourget's proposal to divide the fabrique of Notre-Dame, of which St. Patrick's was a part. Despite his opposition, Bourget had ten new parishes created within the boundaries of Notre-Dame, including St Patrick's.
