Abstract
The author examines imperial sentiment in the Province of Canada as expressed in newspapers during the Crimean War. He argues that Montreal's The Gazette, the "mouthpiece" of English-speaking Montreal Tories, was the most vocal in the colony in support of the imperial cause.
