Abstract
Volumes 1 and 4 contain information on the history of the care and treatment of the mentally ill in Quebec. The authors include information on the Protestant Hospital for the Insane (now the Douglas Mental Health University Institute), founded in 1881, and Ste. Anne's Hospital, built in 1917 to minister to the sick and wounded soldiers returning home during the First World War. The authors also include biographical sketches of prominent doctors in the field of the treatment of the mentally ill.
