Abstract
This survey report indicates that less than half of English‐speaking respondents (45.9 percent) expressed satisfaction with their access to health and social services in English in their region, but nearly two‐thirds of the respondents assessed their health as very good or excellent when compared to other persons their age. Amongst the services used by Anglophone respondents, doctors in private offices ranked highest at 66.5 percent, followed by hospital emergency or out‐patient service at 51 percent, CLSCs at 46 percent and overnight hospital stays at 22 percent. Info‐Santé was used least frequently, with only 19 percent using the service. A majority (83 percent) of Anglophone respondents said that they would turn to relatives and friends for care in the case of illness. A large majority (86 percent) of Anglophone respondents were served in English when they used the services of a doctor in a private clinic, two‐thirds were served in English when accessing CLSC services (67 percent), while 63 percent were served in English when using Info‐Santé.
