Title
Les disparités linguistiques dans la région d'Ottawa-Hull
Abstract
The author measures the evolution of the gap between the incomes of Francophones and Anglophones in the Ottawa-Hull area between 1970 and 1980. The data has been gathered on the basis of municipalities and census sectors, and allows comparisons of incomes of the two linguistic groups on the basis of municipalities or sectors. The computations cover the average total family income of a municipality or sector, and the proportion of Francophones living there. The unemployment rates are also observed. The author shows that linguistic economic disparities were still important in 1970. However, he concludes that there was a slight trend towards a reduction of these disparities.
