Title
The Economic and Social Adjustment of Slavic Immigrants in Canada, with Special Reference to the Ukrainians in Montreal
Abstract
The author examines the reaction of immigrant groups to the culture of their adopted land to understand the dynamics of the assimilation process. He determines that that reaction, and the consequent participation or lack of participation of the immigrant in Canadian life is determined by the spatial and occupational segregation of the immigrant group. The author specifically examines the integration of the Ukrainian immigrant community in Montreal in the 1930s.
