Title
Autrefois, le commerce du livre
Abstract
A study of the book trade in Quebec City from 1760 to 1860. Among the important sellers were William Cowan, Peter Sinclair, and the Brown-Nielson family who introduced printing into the province in 1764. The author points out that the Francophone book sellers offered mostly French books, while English-speaking merchants sold both French and English books before 1840, and only the English language books thereafter.
