Title
L’homéopathie au Québec (1840-1904) : l’institutionnalisation d’une pratique médicale controversée
Abstract
The author sets out to prove that, in Quebec, the homeopathic movement presented itself as modern and scientific, and was part of the more general movement toward the social recognition of professional medicine. Most of the early practitioners of homeopathic medicine in the province were Anglophones. The Montreal Homeopathic Association was incorporated in 1865, and the Montreal Homeopathic Hospital was founded in 1894. The hospital was later re-named The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. It closed in 1995.
