Abstract
Examining over nine hundred post-mortem inventories, the author focuses on the significant impact of British manufactured goods on French Canadian consumer trends, with particular reference to cloth and clothing sold by Anglophone merchants to urban and rural households of different Francophone socio-cultural and socio-economic groups in the Montreal region between 1792 and 1835.
