Abstract
Eiran Harris, Archivist Emeritus of the Jewish Public Library in Montreal, details the history of Montreal Smoked Meat, whose origins is associated with the city's Jewish community and was introduced to Montreal in the late nineteenth century by Aaron Sanft from Yassi, Romania, who became Montreal's first kosher butcher.
