Title
Earning Disparities Among Linguistic Groups in Quebec, 1970-1980
Abstract
Using 1981 census data, the authors estimate the degree of earning disparities among linguistic groups in Quebec in 1980. They conclude that the earning differentials between Anglophones and Francophones were substantially reduced, if not eliminated, over the previous decade. The results suggest important changes in Quebec labour markets during the 1970s, and these can be ascribed to a combination of factors, including legislative intervention. The evidence also suggests that Francophone males were favoured with the most sizable gains.
