Title
Stepping Out: The Golden Age of Night Clubs in Montreal, 1925-1955
Abstract
During the period under review, Montreal was considered a wide-open city, famous for its jazz and nightclub scene, the Paris of North America. In this pre-television era, people of all ages "stepped out" at night for fun and entertainment. They went to clubs to socialize, to see their favourite performers, to hear the latest music, to have dinner or enjoy a fancy cocktail, and especially to dance the night away. The author researched the material for the book from the Montreal jazz history collection in the Concordia University Archives.
