Title
Portrait of the Artist as Young Pup
Abstract
A reminiscence of the performance group known as the Montreal Story Teller, formed in 1970 and composed of the author, John Metcalf, Hugh Hood, Ray Fraser and Ray Smith. The Montreal Story Teller offered "prose on the podium", first in Montreal Catholic schools (Protestant schools wouldn't at first have then), then in CEGEPs and even at the convention of the city's Protestant teachers. The author concludes that the Montreal Story Teller "succeeded in stuffing Canadian literature into every cranny in the curriculum."
