La scolarisation des jeunes québécois issus de l'immigration : un diagnostic
Abstract
The author examines the central role that Quebec schools play in the socialisation and social advancement of immigrant children in the province. She points out that more than twenty percent of Quebec students in 2015 were immigrants. She examines the characteristic backgrounds of young immigrant Quebecers living in the Greater Montreal region (socio-demographics, socioeconomics, grade levels, and where they live); their linguistic integration; and the programs and interventions available for these students. While most immigrant students attended schools within French language school commissions, 47.4 percent of the English Montreal School Board and 34 percent of the Lester B. Pearson School Board were of immigrant (first and second generation) backgrounds.
