Title
Enfants de la loi 101 et parcours scolaires linguistiques : le récit des jeunes issus de l’immigration à Montréal
Abstract
The authors examine the academic experience and orientation of young people from immigrant backgrounds who, under the Charter of the French Language (Bill 101), had to attend primary and secondary French-language schools in Quebec and later pursued post-secondary studies in Montreal in English. Using a sociological approach, the authors' analysis of the life stories of these students reveals that the relationship developed by these young people in relation to Francophone schools and the orientation culture conveyed by their peers and parents had an impact on their choice to study in postsecondary English schools.
