Abstract
A study of printing, publishing and paper-making in Montreal from 1776 to 1820. The first paper mill in Quebec was built in 1804 in St. Andrews East (now Saint-André), Argenteuil County, by Walter Ware. In 1809 the mill was bought by James Brown (1776-1845), who ran the mill until the mid-1830s.
