Chambly County Protestant Central School Board, 1945 to 1955 : The Problems of a Central School Board in the Province of Quebec
Abstract
The history of the Chambly County Protestant Central School Board from its establishment in 1945 to 1955, and the various problems which it attempted to solve during that period. The author studies the extent to which these problems derived from the provincial legislation which established the central board, and assesses the educational benefits which accrued to the community during the period under discussion. Chambly County Protestant School Board was the first such central board established in Quebec. In 1998, the Quebec government passed a law reorganizing school boards along linguistic, as opposed to religious lines .The Riverside School Board is now the regional authority over all English schools in Chambly County.
