Title
Angus Cameron and the High Hope of Adventure
Abstract
Angus Cameron (1913-1996) was a Unitarian minister in Montreal from 1941 to 1959. The author outlines Cameron's strong libertarian convictions, especially towards the heavy-handed actions of Premier Maurice Duplessis during the 1950s. Cameron once implied on a Montreal radio broadcast that the Premier was an incipient tyrant. As an active member of the Montreal Civil Liberties Association, Cameron publicly opposed the government's Padlock Law and Duplessis' persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses, especially Frank Roncarelli.
