Abstract |
Louis Dudek, born in Montreal in 1918, was educated both at McGill University and Columbia University. Dudek joined McGill's English Department, where his lectures on modern poetry became legendary. He taught at McGill from 1951 to 1984, when he became Professor Emeritus. In combination with other key figures in the first and second waves of Canadian poetic modernism, Dudek commenced many of the most important small magazines and literary presses of the mid-century. Dudek died in 2001.
