Abstract |
Incorporated in 1855, the Molson Bank was founded in Montreal by brothers William (1793–1875) and John Molson, Jr. (1787–1860), the sons of brewery magnate John Molson. Its head office was at the corner of St. Jacques and St. Peter streets. It continued in operation until 1925 when it merged with the Bank of Montreal. The architects who designed the bank building were George William Richardson Browne (1811-1885) and John J. Browne (1837-1893) in 1864-65.
