Abstract |
The Macdonald-Harrington Building, on McGill University's campus, was completed in 1895 according to the plans of Sir Andrew Taylor (1850-1937), a prominent Montreal architect. Originally intended for the departments of chemistry and mining, the neo-Romanesque building was primarily a utility building equipped with modern laboratories. The author describes the various uses and transformations of the building, which today houses the university's School of Architecture.
