Rockefeller Foundation Funding and Medical Education in Toronto, Montreal and Halifax
|
Abstract |
In 1919, a $5 million Rockefeller Foundation gift to McGill University, the University of Toronto and Dalhousie University helped bring Canadian medical education into the twentieth century. The author demonstrates how the money, along with a major donation from Sir John Craig and Lady Eaton, made possible the introduction of full-time clinical teaching and encouraged greater public and private support for medical education.
