La mixité dans les milieux de vie selon le groupe linguistique et la génération d’immigration
Abstract
Document summary translated into English by the bibliographer: "Our analyses indicate some segmentation according to linguistic group and immigrant generation in different contexts of daily life in Quebec. In residential areas and workplaces, the exposure of immigrants to third-generation or later Francophones is low, particularly in the Montreal area. It is even lower when considering the actual weight of the latter. The situation is slightly more favorable in workplaces. In schools, over 20 years, we observe a 20-percentage point decrease in the share of third-generation or later students. Anglophone presence is increasing in the regions of Montreal, Gatineau, and Quebec City. While this increase varies from place to place, anglophone presence tends to double in several locations. In colleges and universities, exposure of international students to Quebec students is clearly decreasing for about ten years. At the college level, this decline is particularly pronounced in the private sector. In universities, it is most noticeable in institutions within the University of Quebec network. Overall, in certain living, working, or study environments, people from immigrant backgrounds are unlikely to come into contact with Quebecers who are not from immigrant backgrounds."
