The Politics and Economics of Eric Kierans: A Man for All Canadas
|
Abstract |
An analysis of the career of Montreal-born Eric William Kierans (1914-2004), economist, provincial and federal Cabinet minister, businessman and political commentator. Kierans believed in the primacy of politics over economics, and that things do not improve unless somebody speaks out. The author argues that the successes and failures of Eric Kierans' public life provide insights into the policy dilemmas that Canada faces in attempting to remain a united and independent country.
