| Abstract |
The first Jewish People's School in Montreal, known as Folks' Shule, was founded in 1914. In 1917, the school opened a Hebrew kindergarten, and in 1920, the Board of Directors purchased a school building at 953 St. Urbain Street. In 1922, the school opened the two-year Mittel-Shule (High School Course), and in 1924 the Mittel-Shule moved to a new building at 2001 Waverley Street., corner of Fairmount Avenue.
