Abstract |
A study of the relations between an American firm and its Montreal-based Canadian affiliate. In 1880, the American-born Charles F. Sise (1834-1918) was hired by the National Bell Telephone Company of Boston, the forerunner of AT&T, to supervise the takeover of the Canadian telephone industry. He set up the Bell Telephone Company of Canada and soon had a monopoly over the country's telephone industry.
