Title
The Poetry of Irving Layton : A Scatological Dimension
Abstract
The author points out that Montreal poet Irving Layton (1912-2006) was notorious for the excremental diction and imagery found in his poetry. The author argues that Layton was essentially a moralist who used scatology in order to shock his reader into an awareness of the human condition.
