Abstract |
The 1966 provincial general election saw the Union Nationale, led by Daniel Johnston, regain power and the defeat of Jean Lesage's Quebec Liberal Party. Johnston campaigned on the issue that Quebec should get a better deal within Canadian Confederation, or should separate if it was unable to do so. The author includes accounts of English Quebec's reaction towards the election, especially as outlined in the Montreal Star and The Gazette.
