Abstract |
An examination of the letters of Robert Hoyle to his wife, Eliza Nye Hoyle. Hoyle was a farmer who settled in Lacolle after the War of 1812. The letters detail his views on the economy, marriage, children and education, and provides commentary on kin, friends and neighbours. The author concludes that family and domestic concerns were not the exclusive domain of Eliza in the Hoyle family.
