Abstract |
An account of the 1970 provincial general election. The Quebec Liberal Party, under leader Robert Bourassa, defeated the incumbent Union Nationale Party, led by Jean-Jacques Bertrand. This election also saw for the first time the appearance of the fledgling sovereigntist Parti Québécois under leader René Lévesque. The PQ won seven seats in the election, but Lévesque did not win his riding.
